ATTACHMEN T L IMITATION NOTICE
The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment. This certification
mean s tha t th e equ ipmen t meets certain teleco mmunicat ions netwo rk
prot ective, o perational and safety requ irements. Th e Depa rtment d oes n ot
guarantee the equipment will operate to the user's satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible
to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company.
The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of
connection. The customer should be aware that compliance with the above
con ditions may n ot preve nt degrada tion of service in some sit uations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian
maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or alterations
made by the user to t his equ ipment, or eq uipment malfun ction s, may give
the telecommunicat ions company ca use t o request t he u ser to disconn ect
the equipment.
Users sho uld ensure for t heir own prot ection that t he elect rical groun d
connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water
pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be
particularly important in rural area s.
CAUTION: Users should not attempt to make such connections
the mselves, but should contact the appropriate electrical inspect io n
authority, o r electrician, as ap prop riat e.
The Load Number (LN) assign ed to ea ch t ermin al de vice den ote s th e

consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that

Industry Canada certification is only applicable to installation of devices
which include t ransforme rs approved b y the Ca nadian Stand ards
Association (CSA).

La compagnie de télécommunications peut demander à l'utilisateur de
débrancher un a ppareil à la suite de réparation s o u de modificat ions
effectuées par l'utilisateur ou à cause d'un mauvais fonctionnement.
Pour sa propre protection, l'utilisateur doit s'assurer que tous les fils de
mise à la terre de la source d'energie électrique, des lignes téléphoniques
et des canalisations d'eau métalliques, s'il y en a, sont raccordés ensemble.
Cette précaution est particulièrement impo rtan te dan s les région s rurales.
AVE RTIS SEMENT: L'utilisateur ne doit pas tenter de faire ces
raccordements lui-même; il doit avoir recours à une service d'inspection
des insta lla tions élect riq ues, ou à un élect ricien, selon le cas.
L'in dice de ch arge (I C) assig né à chaque disp ositif indique, pour éviter
tou te surcharge, le p ource ntage de la charge to tale qu i pe ut être raccordé e
à un circuit téléphonique bouclé utilisé par ce dispositif. La terminaison du
circuit bouclé peut être constituée de n'importe quelle combinaison de
dispositifs, po urvu qu e la so mme d es in dices de charge d e l'en semble des
dispositifs ne dé passe pa s 10 0.

UL AND ULC WARNINGS
UL AND C-UL INSTALLATION NOTES
This equipmen t is UL liste d in accordance with sta ndard UL10 23
(Household Burglar -- Alarm Syste ms Un it s), st and ard UL985 (House hold
Fire Wa rn ing Un its) a nd stand ard UL163 5 (Dig ital Ala rm Communicat or
System Units). This equipment has the capability of being programmed with
fe at ures n ot ve rified for u se in UL inst allation s. To sta y wit hin th ese
standards, the installer should use the following guidelines when
configuring the system:
• All components of the system should be UL listed for the intended
application.
• If the system will be used for “Fire” detection, the installer should refer
to NFPA Standards #72, Chapter 2. In addition, once installation is
complete, the local fire authority must be notified of the installation.
• This equipment must be verified by a qualified technician once every
three years.
• All keypads must use a tamper switch.
• Maximum a llo we d ent ry d elay is 45 seco nds.
• Maximum allowed exit delay is 60 seconds.
• Minimum 4 minutes for bell cut-off t ime.
• Bypass Recall does not comply with UL requirements.
• Do no t con nect th e primary in dicat in g device to a rela y. The in staller
must use the b ell ou tpu t.
• To comply with UL985, the auxiliary power output should not exceed
200 mA. Ple ase refer t o Ta ble 2: Cu rrent Co nsumption Table on
page 6.
• Do not connect the zone ground terminal with UL Listed products.
• For UL installations, the metallic enclosure must be grounded to the
cold water pipe.

battery terminal.The Class 2 and power-limited fire alarm
circuits shall be installed using CL3, CL3R, CL3P, or
substitute cable permitted by the National Electrical Code,
ANSI/NFPA 70.
